FLAG PROTOCOL FOR WORLD MISSION SUNDAY

8AM    The flags will be moved by Harry Farmer  from the Acolyte room to The Chapel of the Cross.

8:45 for the 9 AM service; 10:50 for the 11AM service:   Flag bearers assemble in the Chapel of the Cross.

Timing is critical, be punctual. Back up persons should also go to the Chapel of the Cross in case they are needed.

We will be processing after the choir. We will be single file in the following order: American, Episcopal, Compass rose, El Salvador, Honduras, Russia, South Africa, Tanzania (alphabetically for our mission partners).

We will process down the center aisle behind the choir.  We will walk to the crossing at the base of the stairs, each pause before the cross but NOT bow our heads, turn left and proceed around and out the left front door, and leave our flags in the Chapel of the Cross. We can return to the service and sit on the side bench with the acolytes - or not return to the service.

To prepare to process out of the service with the flags, we will line up outside the Chapel of the Cross after communion and after the Eucharistic visitor part of the service. Do not wait for the birthday/anniversary prayer; there will not be enough time to retrieve flags.  We will follow the choir out. Again, we should pause before the cross and then turn and follow the choir. Our pause should create some space between us and the choir.

After the eleven o’clock service return your flag to the Acolyte/flag room off of the Old Narthex

Help clean up !

Bob Cheshier, GMAG member and President of Third World Books is collaborating with St Ignatius High school to fill a container for Dar Es Salaam Tanzania this month. Bishop baji requested Nursing books for Muheza School of Nursing, books for the secondary school,  and supplies for the three hospitals that the Diocese of Tanga supports. Richard Nodar took Bishop Baji to Medwish and Bob is prepared to send 300 sq feet of hospital  supplies in the container he is packing for Dar Es Salaam. Bob will also be sending nursing textbooks from Notre Dame College, Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing CWRU, and from Kathleen Bridgewood for the Muheza School of Nursing.  He will also send  microfilm and related materials and secondary books from Berea Schools/Laurie Scriven. It is wonderful that GMAG can respond so rapidly to the needs Bishop Baji articulated at our dinner at St Paul's 11/13/07 - and within the month! These things are added to the container started for Canon Masalawangwa who visited St Paul's earlier and requested books and journals for a medical library in

****    BISHOP BAJI  - GMAG HOSTED  BISHOP BAJI OF TANGA TANZANIA ****************

FOR A POTLUCK ON THURSDAY NOV 8TH !
Lisa  suggested our action group  offer our warm GMAG hospitality, share our stories of mission in
Africa, and hear his reflections. Meredith Bowen and Sophie Hollingsworth  stayed at his home for
a weekend last summer. She suggested our group rather than an all parish event -  a relaxing welcoming evening for him at St Paul's.
It was a wonderful opportunity to get acquainted, network, share thoughts and possible ways to collaborate. He was delighted to meet Meredith's mother at our event and is staying with Sophie Hollingsworth's parents. Members had one on one time to talk with him and we later had a circle discussion and were joined by  Youth stewardship members! Bishop Baji requested books for Muheza school of Nursing. Bob is currently doing a container for Tanzania and will send some of Kathleen Bridgewood's books, books Bob knows are available from Notre Dame, and Ann will request books from the faculty at the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing, CWRU. Additionally, Bishop Baji told us of the Healthy Program,  three hospitals, and their need for equipment. .. Medwish is a source, he was given information, and there is room in the container for equipment!  We are absolutely delighted to respond  quickly to needs he told us about! He gave us historical and descriptive accounts of The Diocese of Tanga and his personal perspective. Bishop Baji is a friend of the American church, was educated at Virginia Theological Seminary, and was keynote speaker at the convention. We hope very much to further this relationship!
